Review: "The 39Steps is a project from producer, musician and DJ Kato. With an album written and recorded over two years, he has created a place where hip hop, electronica, jazz beats, and film-scores collide. Made from bottom-heavy beats and guest singer Laura Fowles’ spine-tingling vocals, the album features scratchy horns, haunting pianos, red reverbs and talk of ghosts"
After Portishead's disappointing (to me at least) Third album, leave it to new artists to reclaim the trip-hop genre and produce this fine album. Coming Clean is proof there is an appreciation of the Bristol sound that Massive Attack & Portishead pioneered. This record is head-nodding sick. Solid, solid album.
